Orgullosa Mami

I am proud to announce that I am a #MamiSelfie (Mom Selfie) correspondent for Orgullosa!
Orgullosa means proud and I am definitely a proud Latina, but most importantly a proud Mom.

Today I am going to share a story with you, that even just thinking about it, brings tears to my eyes.
I come from a big family. I am the youngest of 7 siblings.  So it's no surprise that I've always wanted a big family.  My goal was always to have kids by 25 at least so I can start on my big family for those big fiestas! But it never happened. I was in a 10 yr relationship and the only good thing that came out of it was a learning experience. After that I was just a magnet for the wrong men. I was now 29 years old and all my siblings had children. Guys I heard it all the time..."you're not getting any younger" or "your clock is ticking" By this time I had given up. Sometimes I'd cry to my mom and tell her that I was never gonna find a good man or start a family.

Long story short, I later met Kevin at 29 yrs old. So unexpected and so meant to be. I swear this was God's plan. A year later I got pregnant and received the biggest joy of my life, Gavin. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't shower him with kisses and tell him how important he is to me.

I am half Honduran and half Puerto Rican and it is important to me that Gavin that speaks Spanish.
My mom has always been one to tell all my brothers and sisters "you better teach them Spanish"
He has learned so much and I think he understands me more when I speak Spanish to him.
Everyday he surprises with new words or new gestures. And he loves watching novelas with his mommy. :-) He is now 20 months old and he is such a smart little boy.

Not to toot my own horn, but Kevin and I have done an excellent job on raising Gavin and we hope to continue to raise our little gordito to a fine young man.

Now join me on this ride and share your #MamiSelfie on Instagram.

Mother's Day Gift Guide

Mother's day is around the corner and I wanted to share my must haves for every momma out there.
As a new mom, I am more into flats. I love my heels, but now that I have to run after Gavin, I usually wear them for 2-3 hours max. So ditch those 4 inch heels and enjoy your Summer in these comfy sandals.

I have to carry snacks, water, my cellphone, camera, diapers, wipes, etc
Shit, sometimes I even have to carry snacks for Kevin. So I don't know about guys, but I am just about ready to ditch my diaper bag and go for one of these roomy tote bags.

Every mom needs to feel comfortable in this hot weather, and if you have an energetic toddler like me, you will be doing lots of walking and running because you're not planning on staying home right? Right, so you'll need a light breezy comfortable dress for all the fun activities.

Hope you like my picks! I know I want everything.

Playing Peek-a-boo with Gavin.
Wearing: Zara Blazer | Zara top | Levis jeans | Tibi sandals

You've seen me wear this blazer a thousand times and you will see me wear it a thousand more.
When I buy things, I always try to create at least 5 outfits. If you love something enough to purchase it, you should want to wear it more than once.

Navy Blues

Wearing: Gap turtleneck | American Apparel dress | Schutz sandals

Always been a fan of bodycon dresses because you can just wear an oversized shirt over them and you're good to go. And for this bipolar weather I decided to throw a loose turtleneck over it.

On another note, my little one is still sick. I am exhausted. Any of your little ones had croup? How long did it last? Is it true milk makes it worse?

Cropped Henley

Wearing: American Apparel top and pants | Tibi sandals

Sharing this quick  outfit post with you guys before I go give Gavin some extra TLC.

Yesterday I saw my little guy have a difficult time breathing. He was coughing so bad and throwing up phlegm. Kevin and I rushed to the ER. 1 hour later he was diagnosed with Croup. He still sounds pretty bad, but I'm praying he gets better soon.

Black & White Basics

Wearing: J.Crew tee | Citizens of Humanity jeans | Vintage earrings | Schutz sandals

Picked up these new shoes on Saturday from Schutz store on 655 Madison Ave.  If you're in New York, you have have to check out their store. They recently renovated and the lighting is perfection for a shoefie. I have to go back soon. Not only do I want more shoes from Shutz, but their customer service is great, super sweet and helpful.
