I am proud to announce that I am a #MamiSelfie (Mom Selfie) correspondent for Orgullosa!
Orgullosa means proud and I am definitely a proud Latina, but most importantly a proud Mom.
Today I am going to share a story with you, that even just thinking about it, brings tears to my eyes.
I come from a big family. I am the youngest of 7 siblings. So it's no surprise that I've always wanted a big family. My goal was always to have kids by 25 at least so I can start on my big family for those big fiestas! But it never happened. I was in a 10 yr relationship and the only good thing that came out of it was a learning experience. After that I was just a magnet for the wrong men. I was now 29 years old and all my siblings had children. Guys I heard it all the time..."you're not getting any younger" or "your clock is ticking" By this time I had given up. Sometimes I'd cry to my mom and tell her that I was never gonna find a good man or start a family.
Long story short, I later met Kevin at 29 yrs old. So unexpected and so meant to be. I swear this was God's plan. A year later I got pregnant and received the biggest joy of my life, Gavin. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't shower him with kisses and tell him how important he is to me.
I am half Honduran and half Puerto Rican and it is important to me that Gavin that speaks Spanish.
My mom has always been one to tell all my brothers and sisters "you better teach them Spanish"
He has learned so much and I think he understands me more when I speak Spanish to him.
Everyday he surprises with new words or new gestures. And he loves watching novelas with his mommy. :-) He is now 20 months old and he is such a smart little boy.
Not to toot my own horn, but Kevin and I have done an excellent job on raising Gavin and we hope to continue to raise our little gordito to a fine young man.
Now join me on this ride and share your #MamiSelfie on Instagram.
